Bud not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis
Bud not Buddy is a 236 page novel by Christopher Paul Curtis. It is about a ten year old boy named Bud, who is an orphan growing up in the Great Depression. In his life Bud only has one thing going for him. He believes he knows his father’s name. Bud then sets out on an amazing journey in hope finding where he belongs. Bud’s journey is full of twists and surprises and a lot of funny moments.
Bud not Buddy is a very interesting book that kept me engaged the whole way through. It is a book that is full of childhood humor and funny moments, but is also heart felt. I was surprised to find that it appealed to every one of my emotions. However some parts of the book felt like they could be taken out. In the end I would give Bud not Buddy a four out of the fives stars, and highly recommend it.
