The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton
The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is truly a classic. It’s set in Oklahoma in the early 1960’s. A town’s teenagers are split into two different social groups. The kids on the east side are tough greasers, while on the west side the teens are socs. For Pony Boy Curtis, a fourteen-year-old greaser, he’s finding out that life is rough all over. Throughout this novel you’ll see life through a teenage greaser’s eyes.
I couldn’t put The Outsiders down. It’s a story packed with exciting twists and turns. There’s never a dull moment in the whole book. S.E. Hinton definitely knows how to pace the story without it being too fast or too slow. This book is a classic, but will touch any generation the same. This novel gets my rating of 4.5 stars.
