The Road by Cormac McCarthy
In The novel The Road, written by Cormac McCarthy, is about a father and his son fighting for survival through a bad time period in the world. As their journey on the road, they meet some trouble here and there. At times the father was not sure if the would ever make it alive. The Father loves his son and cares for him. The father enlightens in the story that the only reason he is alive is because of his son. Throughout the story the father talks about the past and has flashbacks. The father became very sick further into the story. Unfortunately the father does not make it at the end; however, the young boy finds others who survived the terror and travels with them. I admire the father because he never gave up a hard time, he always fought through things even when he was not sure about what will happen next. He is caring, loving and also a good person.
This novel can relate to others that have hard times and difficult times; however, the father proves you can get through it even when you want to give up. There are many people out there who are fighting for survival and who are dying of hunger. This novel makes me realize how lucky I am to have what I need. It has shown me how to be more grateful for the place i am at.
In this story I would have changed the ending because I think the father should have lived with his son; however, he is now in a better place and not suffering. My favorite part of the story was when the father and his son found supplies in the basement. I thought the deserved a break from everything they been through.
I would recommend this book to someone who likes adventure books and who can understand the feeling of wanting to give up when time is worse.
