Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank
"It's really a wonder that I haven't dropped all my ideals, because they seem so absurd and impossible to carry out. Yet I keep them, because in spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart.” Anne Frank wrote in her diary before she and her family were discovered hiding by the Nazis on 4 August, 1944.Everyone that was caught in the "Secret Annex" was arrested and shipped off to concentration/death camps awaiting their fate. A woman named, Miep Gies found Anne's diary after she had been arrested and decided to keep it hoping that Anne would come back for it. After Anne frank died in Bergen Belsen, her father Otto Frank decided to publish her diary after Miep showed him the diary and convinced him to publish it. In her diary, Anne describes what it was like going into hiding during The Holocaust. Anne and her family went into hiding because they were Jewish. Adolf Hitler and the Nazis gained control of Holland and planned to exterminate all Jews, homosexuals, disabled people, Gypsies, and Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Anne also changed the names of the people she lived with during the Holocaust. For example she changed the van Pels, another family who went into hiding with them, name into Van Daan's. Eight months a Jewish dentist named Fritz Pfeffer whom Anne renames him into Albert Dussell(Dussell means dummy in Dutch). Four of Otto's employees Victor Kugler, Miep Gies, Jo Klieman, and Bep Voskuijl helped them hide.

I really liked her diary because she expresses herself confidently. Anne Frank was confident enough to talk about her stages through puberty and telling the audience how she feels about her stages of puberty. Some teenage girls can even relate to her. Teenage girls can relate to Anne when she has arguements with her mother and is often compared to her older sister, Margot. I also like how she included details about her relationship with the van Daan's son, Peter. At first Annethinks Peter is shy, lame, and definetly not her type. Peter thought that Anne was annoying and preffered Margot over her. Later on they both get to spend time together and fall in love. I think Anne is great girl because she was optimistic during this time period. Most people had lost hope and thouhgt that they would all die. She saw the bright side of things. In my oppinion Anne Frank is trying to teach us to have a little faith no matter how hard the situation is because it will help us get through it.
