Death on the Sidewalk by Paul Kropp
“Tomorrow it might be me.” I like this words to keep my strain, I always don’t have to be careless. This book, Death on the Sidewalk is wrote by Paul Kropp, and the realistic fiction because this story based on the real story. It is true that all of we don’t know what happen occur after a moment, so I don’t want to lose strain. There are little or nothing that I learned from this story. I was sad when I read this story because this accident consists in this story belongs to gang did not have a guilty and the children who are like high school student such as me. And the victim of this accident is younger than 20 and could not say anything to her family when she would die. However, I don’t like this book
Allie who was 15 years old girl has best friend, Rosa and she promised that they would go shopping when the shopping mall held the after-Christmas sales. That day, they started to go there with few money and credit card. Another scene, the city gang, Big Joe planned to assassin one person with a pistol, but he commanded to city young wrong boys were Curtis and Jomo. He described the target is in shopping mall. In addition, two high school boys came to the shopping mall to waste time. One boy is JR and another boy called Tyrone. JR played his new iPod is present by his father as a Christmas present. Tyrone was looking for his classmates who looked like having time a spare. Three gangs came the shopping mall because Big Joe commanded the mission to kill enemy. Jomo saw the one boy was playing iPod and he envied him because he never had iPod, so he planned to get it, so he purposely hit JR and accused him falsely and he suggested that he compromised to get iPod instead of the compensation. Big Joe advised him to not make a trouble before carrying out the mission but Jomo did not have a ears to listen that advice. JR and Tyrone were scary first, but they resented little and little, then they looked Jomo had a pistol. The boys misunderstood that was true pistol, so they planned that to steel that pistol and scared Jomo with pistol for recovering iPod. Meanwhile Allie and Rosa was getting the lunch at the lunch space of shopping mall. The girls did not know they would be involve to the fight between Jomo and two boys.
First, the reason of why I thought it is the author did not set one of the main protagonist because the catalysts were JR and Jomo, not Allie but this story is about Allie. This effects to the reader is confused who I have to consider about.
In addition, this story is non movement story. This story based true story and it may excite the interest to the reader, but I was tired to read this book. It’s a fact that when the two boys plans to revenge Jomo, the story is moving but Allie and Rosa don’t relate to this movement. I finally amaze what the introduction’s hook was.
Finally, the author does not struggle to describe Allie. Although Allie is involved by the fight and killed, but I could not know Allie so much, so I did not feel the regret for Allie because I was not considerate to her.
This story is a tragedy that one young girl has no connection with the fight and be killed while she enjoys the shopping with her friend. I think that this matter imply that nobody knows what happen will occur. It might be considerate for me, but the almost these chapter is talking about the relationship and strategy between three city gang and two boys, so I thought this story lacks persuasion. The fuzzy point of view confuse me what the theme of this story is. Allie’s strategy impresses me to think that not leave any regrets in my life, but I don’t like this story as the fiction story.
