Child Called It is a heart breaking story about child abuse. In this story, David Pelzer grew up in California, with the normal, loving family. That simple family life changed when he was about four. His mom became depressed and started drinking. Soon after she began abusing David. First the abuse started off with long sits in his room, or verbal abuse. Then the tables quickly turned. She began starving, beating, even burning David. She never abused David's brothers, it was only him. He always had hope, for when his father was around, he would sneak him food, and defend him. He considered his father a hero, but even father couldn't save David. With his abuse getting more severe, he's running out of all hope. He was not treated like a child, he was not loved, cared for, he wasn't even called by his name. He was "The boy". He was a child called "It".  This book is about Dave Pelzer's fight for strength through some of the worse child abuse we've ever seen. I really enjoyed this book. It was very well written, and a huge page turner. You really connect with David throughout the book, and feel like you're there with him. I would recommend this book to anyone who asked me. It is one of the best books I've read in a long time. I would definitely read more from this author. I'm continuing the series with The Lost Boy and enjoying that book as well. Dave Pelzer's writing continues to amaze me. In conclusion, I really loved this book. If you haven't read this book, it's a must. Everyone should have a chance to read this amazing story. It's a bit of a heartache, but it is definitely worth your time. You won't be disappointed.
