The car by Gary Paulsen
The Car book report
In The Car, a young adult fiction by Gary Paulsen, this story is very exciting and it will be hard to put down. There are many plot twists that I never see coming. It always keeps me on the edge of my seat, there are things like road rage to bar fights.
We find out how Terry learns to live by himself because his parents left him. He has to find a way to fix up a kit car that his dad has in the garage. He has to travel and find sanctuary at his aunt's house. On the way, he learns that he must be independent and meets some amazing people along the way.
The point of this story is first person and is told from Terry's view of things. The main lesson of the story is that some day you have to grow up, be independent, and be open to new things. The setting mostly on the road because Terry and his new friend are always on the go. There are other settings at eerie motels and houses.
I really enjoyed the story The Car because it had not only action parts but sad and surprising parts too. It was very powerful, it really struck home for me. If the author’s purpose was to entertain than he did a really good job at doing so. I would really recommend this book it is very well writen and made.
This book made me think about the characters long after I put it down. Overall it was a well-made book with lots of twists and turns. But will Terry make it to his aunt’s house or will his kit car last the whole way? Read The Car to find out.
