That Girl, Darcy: A Pride and Prejudice Story by James Ramos is a book that will warm reader’s hearts. It will bring them into the world of figuring out life as a teen and falling in love. The book is about Elliott, a high school senior in Phoenix, Arizona. It tells the journey of his last year in high school and his difficulties in finding love. 

The romance in this story keeps readers reeling for more. The ups and downs of Elliott’s love life keeps readers on edge and wondering what will happen next with characters Gabby and Darcy. On the other hand, certain parts of the story are predictable and just like any other romance book. There are many moment though that surprise or confuse you.

     

 Ramos uses a great setting for the story, It takes place in an actual town and its high school which helps readers relate it to real life. The relationship conflicts in the story keeps readers interested and wanting to know who Elliott will end up with in the end. Readers should be aware that in the book there is a lot of talk about romance and has some sexual content, but these things are necessary in the development of the story. Also romance with other characters is easily foreshadowed in the book by the way Elliot talks about them.

       

This book would be well suited for teens aged 13-18 who are interested in romance novels. Teens of that age will love the heartwarming tale of the main character finding love. This book is highly recommended in middle school and high school libraries, as well as in public libraries.
