In Deenie a young girl learns a valuable lesson, looks are not everything. The story begins with Deenie the main character who is a 7th grader. Her mother wants her to become a model and is busy taking her to different agencies. Deenie is not interested in becoming a model but doesn't want to disappointed her. One day as they go to a modeling agency Deenie is told her she doesn't walk straight and that something might be wrong with her posture. Eventually they go to the doctors and they find out Deenie has Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis. The main character is embarrassed about her condition and wishes she could must have an operation to fix her condition but things aren't so easy. Now she has to wear a brace
from her neck to her hips for four years or longer. With this sudden news Deenie and her family have to learn how to overcome her situation.


I would recommend this fictional book to anyone especially teenagers. This book can help teenagers to understand the importance of family and how family can help overcome any situation.
This is a good book because it's realistic and has to do with the teenage life.
