Bring It On (2000)
Let’s face it. A movie about cheerleading is not
expected to garner an Oscar nomination. Most would
expect it to be cliché, corny and filled with a cast of
horrible actors. Well, in this case they’re wrong!
The first Bring It On movie is excellent! It is definitely a five star winner in my eyes. This movie is an exuberant story of backstabbing, rival cheerleading teams whom fight for a national title. Kirsten Dunst plays the role of the spunky and popular head cheerleader for the Toros cheer squad, Torrance Shipman. She faces numerous challenges and it seems as if nothing is going her way. Between awful routines and loosing team members, her cheer team seems like it is falling apart but everything turns out for the better in the end. The movie portrays an abundance of talented young actresses, the athleticism of competitive cheerleading and positive attitudes. It is a must watch for any young girl.
