Mr. Holland's Opus
Teaching was the last thing that Glenn Holland expected to do in his life, but little did he know that it was the turning point of his life. Holland spent some years performing across the United States before settling down with his wife, Irene. There he had wished to continue his dream of composing a masterpiece for the world to hear, but instead took a music teaching job a a local high school. With expectations that teaching would be easy and would give him time to compose, he found himself swamped with test papers and after-school rehearsals, leaving behind his composition. Years go by as Glenn's life goes on as a teacher. He is given a beautiful son, and despite various trials, their family stays strong. Many years has passed and as the budget for the arts gets cut, Glenn finds himself without a job again and feeling as empty as he did in the beginning, but little does he know life has something in store for him.
This movie is perfect for any one who enjoys music, the arts, and appreciates the sacrifices a teacher makes, and if you know of someone who does not have that appreciation, this movie will enable their gratitude for teachers. Music lovers all around will love the heart, soul, and moral of the movie.
