The fallout games have existed since the 90’s first introducing the idea of a video game set in the post apocalyptic era. Even though the idea of an end to the world has existed since the conception of it, it wasn’t until roughly 1950-1960 that the world would end from nuclear warheads. Even though the 70’ s was famous for it’s post apocalyptic era movies, and the hype of a nuclear war today is at an all time low. Just because the information about nukes and war aren’t as famous today doesn’t mean that this setting wouldn’t make a great setting for a video game. Bethesda proved this in November of 2008 releasing a game called Fallout 3. With it’s great graphics, dated yet still shining soundtrack, it became the best selling Fallout game ever. Fallout was completely forgotten about because of the gap in time between games 2-3. Bethesda the owner of the fallout franchise bought the rights from a company called Interplay. Interplay couldn’t afford any of it’s employees so they disbanded. Ten or so people stuck around and formed a company called Obsidian. Obsidian was hardly a profitable software developer and never was the leading designer of a project. Until 2008 November 19 when Fallout 3 was released by Bethesda, Obsidian recalled their contract that related themselves to the fallout name. The contract stated that Interplay, now Obsidian would be allowed to make one final Fallout game, then they would have no more connections with Bethesda or the Fallout franchise. After a long fought court case Obsidian was finally granted the rights to make Fallout New Vegas. Even though Obsidian was developing the game Bethesda was still publishing it. A few days ago FANV was released and the game introduced a whole new personality to the Fallout name. GREED, greed is the most recognizable trait that is existent in the game so far. With the updated graphics, tweaked gameplay, and minor crashes/bugs fallout makes for an addictive yet angry experience. Though the games bugs will be fixed within a week or so the games is also lacking the novelty of previous fallout games. As I spend more time playing and venturing deeper and deeper into the Mojave desert I am beginning to see that I feel as if I bought an expansion pack, rather than a whole new game. Is this game recommended?, well yeah it is but I exercise extreme caution to any people who have never played a fallout game, too start with Fallout 3 it is by far the more dominant game
