Pandemic
A Pandemic a once in a lifetime occurrence
A time that everyone reconsiders everything.
A time that everyone reconsiders everything-
Their safety, their families, their life.
They feel their safety has been challenged and is slowly running away from them,
They feel their lives and souls have been hung up on a clothesline for everyone to see,
Their lives, souls, and sanity have a little bomb on them tick, tick, ticking away just waiting for the boom,
Though everything feels as if one day the pressure will cave in leaving them buried- they don’t let it happen.
Though everything feels as if it is never going to end
They stop and they think remembering there is a light at the end of the tunnel even if it’s a small glimmer, but a small glimmer is all they need.
They stop and they think...
A Pandemic a once in a lifetime occurrence.

Hi!! I am Helena and this is a short piece I wrote in class. It underlines how some people feel about the pandemic and I wanted to express that feeling in a form of writing. This writing is in the form of duplex. Duplex is a form of poetry created by Jericho Brown. Its rules are you start the poem with a couplet and the second line in the couplet repeats into the next couplet (It doesn't have to be a word-for-word repetition) then this structure follows until there are 7 couplets then the last line of the poem repeats the very first line of the poem. It is kind of confusing but there are multiple sites where you can check out some of Jericho Brown's writings or find more about the poem form duplex. I really hope you enjoy this writing I made. Thank you!!!
