2022 June Poetry Contest: A Heart Thirsting For Love
My heart was a basin as dry and brittle as can be:
It was surrounded by lush mountains and trees,
But was simultaneously littered with debris.
My heart was once water,
But now it is a pauper
Deprived of love,
Only filled with blood
That gushes like a flood.
