Lifeless
I no longer wish to fake anymore,
so just quit knocking on my door.
I have chosen this solemn fate,
and now stand waiting at heaven's gate.
But as I reach, they do as I fear,
and tell me I'm not welcome here.
My eyes go wide, a quiet 'gasp',
as I hear news my heart won't grasp.
An angel stares down into my face,
as I beg, on my knees, to stay in this place.
It reaches out and strokes my cheek,
then pushes me off of heaven's peak.
I let out a startled breath,
as I leave my almost death.
I hit a world that's bitter and cold,
the silent air not thin, but bold.
My eyes fly open, my heart repeats.
To get through life there are no cheats.
