Oblivion
A ruined man with
worn out shoes
is looking for life
in his stash of booze
A child is dying
in the grip of AIDS
crying for hope
from the tiger's fangs
A boy gives up
with a gun to his head
screaming to life
that he's better off dead
And where are you
in this hope-starved earth
it needs you now
to live out your worth
One life can change
a thousand men
or make one child
want to live again
You can turn your back
to the desperate pleas
or strive to become
what you're meant to be
They say ignorance is bliss
but I ask for whom
the oblivious one
or forgotten tomb
