Beyond the Mirror
Can you see what I look like?
Judgmental eyes observe every aspect of me,
From my eyes; my windows, my arms; my controls,
And my legs; my movement.
You can see the outside of me, indefinitely,
But do you see past the surface, stripped to my heart?
All my beliefs, and what I care about?
What I think; my mind rather than my body?
How I perceive the world, what I hold
Close and dear to my heart? Do you see the
Person behind the typical mask of a female
In transition; not girl, not yet woman?
What I feel strongly about, who I care
About and for? My hard work and thoughts unseen?
Do you care what’s beyond the mirror?
