Maybe if I Had Paid Attention in Math Class, I Would Understand You
you divide
by three
multiply by
one half
and I am still
here.
Frustrated,
you square
and then
take the square root
but I am
still here.
Tears filling
your eyes,
you add a
negative to
a negative
it's still
positive
and I
am still here.
You tell me I am prime
and that's why it won't work
anymore
as you gently try to
subtract yourself.
You tell me
I deserve better.
You tell me that the line
that connected me to you
is broken
and now parallel.
And even though
you're gone,
you've
subtracted
divided
factored
yourself
out of this mess
I am still here.
