"Here growing up means murdering your dreams, cutting your hair, and going to work. All this so you can live in a miserably boring house with a miserably boring family and then be deemed 'successful.'"

Lo’ behold!
The Earth is gold!
How great and grand
To grow old
In a wonderful land of gold!

Out my door I walk big an’ bold.
Who cares if I’m cold
In my yellow metallic robe?
Not a single human mold
In a wonderful land of gold!

As I travel this shining yellow land
I realize it’s rather bland.
No human voice
No marching band
Only one, color of sand

It doesn’t take long for me to grow old.
Instead of big and bold
I walk small and shamed.
There’s no one to hold
In a wonderful land of gold.

It is valuable I’m told.
But how can it be sold?
A bar for a bar?
I think I’ll just fold.
In a wonderful land of gold.

The tale of King Midas and my recent choice to quit my job prompted me to realize that money really only gets you money.
