The Ranks
Wardrums shake the ranks
platoon leaders bellow
eyes freeze open, foreboding
men with locked jaws, straight staring
Phobos
The piper's shriekings tumble
a creatures final wail
knuckles twist around iron
timid prayers lift skyward
phobos
the march tramps forward
a thousand hearts scream
throuts burn with rage
the alpha and omega
phobos
a boiling sea of bronze
A grinding sure of feet
the carnage echoes and dies
the sole survivor of bloodshed
phobos

Phobos means "fear" in greek. I read the book Gates of Fire and was inspired to write about the greek phalanx going to war.
