Walk Upon a Bridge
I took a walk upon a bridge today,
My footsteps echoed when I strode across,
With memories of how we used to play.
Our toes we buried in the mud and moss,
And laughter rippled through us like the creek,
Whose water we at one another tossed.
If one of us had to another speak,
When secrets flew through our unworried heads,
A solitary bridge was best to seek.
We kayaked through the shallow, boggy marsh,
Until we were too wet or sun went down,
We swam with nature, whether calm or harsh.
I realize those days, they are now gone.
Still there, although are memories of fun,
Under the bridge that I had walked upon.
