Give In
Lay me down by my ancestor
Let us finally function as one
I’m tired of being a protester
I want to remove my censor
Otherwise I will be undone
Lay me down by my ancestor
Even though agreeing with them would make me stir
I’m finally ready to stop my run
I’m tired of being a protester
All my fuss, flew far and led to fester
Perhaps the olden days were better done
Lay me down by my ancestor
I have finally cracked under the pressure
Trying to change the old ways has lost it’s fun
I’m tired of being a protester
Let them cradle my restless soul, I give in to the arrester
Let them caress my tear stained cheeks, I give in to everyone
Lay me down by my ancestor
I’m tired of being a protester

When you live away from your home country, at times you feel like you are fighting against their culture and values. However there is still a feeling of being helpless in the back of your head, which inspired me to write this poem.
