I am the Sea
I am the shoreline where sand meets salt water,
that you can walk on for miles.
I am the first sandbar a few hundred feet out,
that is where hundreds of pompano
scavengly school for lunch.
I am the kelp flowing back and forth,
effortlessly with not a care in the world.
I am the floating mats of trash,
accumulated over the years,
worthless and irrelevant to the world.
I am an anglerfish in the depths of the midnight zone,
born in darkness, will die in darkness.
I am the glowing sun setting over the west,
beautiful and immaculate like a perfectly cooked marshmallow.
Burning like a ball of lost opportunities and regret.
I am the sea, cruel and relentless
there to bait you into thinking it's all okay.
