MR! BURNS didn't know squat
mr. burns
didn't know squat
and all that he learned
he promptly forgot.
And all that he dreamed,
he kept to his sleep,
and he honestly was
no more useful than deep.
Then one day a teacher
woke up his mind
and said to him,
"burns, you're a one
of one kind"
put his hands in the mud
and his heart in his head
until he wanted books
more than water or bread.
And then glad little burny
went all he could go
(and more) with his clubs
and his teams and his shows.
When not studying Russian,
he'd jog 'round the house,
or read the political history
of Laos.
You see he had found
where he wanted to go;
to master all subjects
and know every know.
And pretty darn soon
he was almost darn there,
once his face had got scraggly
(no time for his hair.)
And then this MR! BURNS
was a bursting sensation
all stuffed with the pride
of his amorous nation
he preached and he lectured
"work to succeed,
and one day you too
could be taking the lead."
But somehow it seemed
that the great MR! BURNS
didn't believe
there was much else to learn.
He didn't like hearing
that he mightn't be
the tippy-top apple
of the knowledge tree.
And somehow it seemed
that it didn't now matter
what he opined
in his wordy chatter.
The love of knowledge
goes cold without care,
and knowledge and wisdom don't come
in a pair.
