The Forgotten Team
There once was a cheerleading squad that joked and joked and joked.
A crazy bunch of lasses that never payed attention.
When left alone, they’d fool no more and get right back to work.
But when the coach walked in again they’d fool around some more.
When time came to get down to work, their silly acts were gone.
Harder and harder they pushed the limits of gravity,
getting kicked and pushed and punched and hurt, they gave it their all.
Paying their dues, they hit it all, bringing the gold back home.
Celebrations ending, determination taking place.
They started over again; back at the bottom once more.
They pushed harder, They trained harder, making their way back up.
But all that was won would once more be lost, not seen again.
The team lost, attitudes turned sour, paths separated.
Wins will become distant memories, losses mere nightmares.
Glitz and glamour unimportant, cheer bows thrown in the trash.
The cheer team that once joked, forever forgotten by all.
