Soft Melodies
Breathing slowly, I take in a deep breath
Feel my diaphragm sink, and vibrations rise
The throat, my instrument, my stomach the bagpipe
Traveling up my throat, out my nasal cavity
The warm air disperses, the music rich in volume
Stress levels fall and confidence builds
The vibrations recede in the brain, swarming to find an escape
Traveling back down as I open my mouth
The system at large spouts
Melodies and rhymes tap at my heart
Worries scatter and happiness takes root
Touching my stomach to feel the pulse of the sound
The sound of the rhythm, dancing to the beat
The note falls, and I become aware
Breathing in the surrounding air
I sputter two or more notes
And become transported to a different land
Of unicorns and magic, an impromptu reality
Hurt, sorrow, remorse become shadows of the past
The note carries me along
Stamping my brain, the melody ends
I become aware of my surroundings once again
Grab for my headphones to let my mind go
The music, my ocean, ebb and flow
I let out another breath
Sit back and think
The desire to sing becomes stronger
The love of music consumes
