The Communal Piano
During the day, all are welcome
To try and play the Communal Piano
She sings their songs
From grunge to classical
She plays her roles well
However, at night a different song is sung
A song she plays herself
A song that dances in the darkness of the now empty hall
Minor chords echoing around the spacious rooms
A song about how her day had been
A song for no one but her
After all, no one wants to hear this song
Minor chords don’t encourage anyone
So she must wait until she’s by herself to sing
A song to prepare
For the coming day
