The Rocky Road
Its complexity is tempting.
The challenge of it.
The fear it induces.
The rock’s firm exterior.
Feeling as if it is slowly and aimlessly on its way To tap your nose.
Your eyes scanning the wall
From bottom to top.
The feeling of putting all your body weight All of your trust
Into a single black rope.
So many things could go awry,
But that’s what excites me the most.
The vivid rock arrangement, Appearing to be in some particular pattern, But at the same time
Scattered in a nonuniform way.
Its obscure shapes and sizes.
You reach the halfway mark.
A glass half full kind of feeling fills your stomach.
Complete and utter relief. Towering over everyone. Ruler of the skies.
One with the clouds.
You were fearful,
But you persisted.
You had doubts,
But you overcame them. You made a decision
And stuck to it.
And it was successful.
You overcame an obstacle. You conquered the climbing wall. And now the sky's the limit
