Some Things Never Change
Some things never change.
The smell of the gym, the bounce of the floor.
Making me feel as though I was capable of everything.
A choice I had to make made me give that up.
Some things never change.
Some things might change.
A band; a family
My strength grew like never before. My heart grew wings for the first time.
Some things might change.
Some things might change for the worse.
Two people; beloved ones
Closest to me; but now my hands cannot reach theirs anymore.
Some things might change for the worse.
Some things will always be better than the last.
Learning new things; Learning to find myself.
I never knew I had the strength to get through this.
Some things will always be better.
Some things never change; but I know I did
I am stronger; I am wiser
I can look at my past and know I have gone far.
There were many changes, but I am glad I have gone through them.
As the old saying goes;
Some things never change.
I am glad that I did.

This is basically when I took that first step of telling my story. It talks about how when I was 8-10 I was in gymnastics and I loved it like never before. But I had to choose going into middle and high school if I would stay or do marching band, so I went with band. In the second verse it talks about just that, how marching band and color guard became my one true thing at that time. Then during my first season in high school disaster struck. My grand parents death hit me like an thousand ton brick. That is what the 3rd verse is about. Then soon after that I got back on my feet, just for them. I looked back and instead of being sad, I smiled; just for them. I figured to make this life worth living, I would make my family and especially my grandparent proud no matter what.
