Oreo Nights
The universe is an Oreo cookie,
We are the cream.
Sweet and mysterious
We slide and glide
Through our days.
Sometimes the night
Is a hot wet boot
We’re all stuck inside.
Sometimes the night is
A strainer
Our soul gets sifted through.
The night is a tree,
We are the baby bird.
The night is
Going round and round with stars
So fine we miss the music
We don’t dare to sing ourselves.
The night is a boat,
The night is an empty beehive,
The night is too sweet to sleep.
