The Most Beautiful Thing
The most beautiful thing
I ever saw,
Was someone crying.
Each tear
Was like a tiny
Diamond.
Glimmering on their cheeks,
Each one
Worth
Trillions
of dollars.
The most beautiful thing
I ever saw,
Was someone smiling.
Their eyes crinkled,
Their lips
Chapped and
Cracked.
A droplet of
Blood
Glittered like a
Ruby.
The most beautiful thing
I ever saw,
Was someone smiling
As tears
Poured
Down
Their
Face.
They were heartbroken.
They didn’t know
What would
Happen
Next.
They weren’t sure
How to
Survive.
But even though
The walls
Were
Closing
In,
They smiled.
Tears slipped into their mouth.
They continued to smile.
And even though
There was
Nothing.
No reason
To smile,
They did.
They smiled,
Forgiving
The world
That wronged them.
And as
Each
Tiny
Jewel
Fell down
Their cheeks,
The ruby
Drop
Of blood
Remained.
They never
Stopped
Smiling.
The most beautiful thing
I ever saw
Was someone
Smiling
As the world
Crashed
Around them.
The most beautiful thing
I ever saw
Was someone
Smiling
As they
Cried.
