SWEET DECEMBER (2022 Traditions Contest: Family winter trip)
Years go by, changes come around
Pressure of growth drags me downtown
When did life get measured by papers
And happiness by pain of others
Suddenly I’m too old to cry
But too young to die
Too old for lots of things
But never for the closest rings
Sweet December surely arrives
Laughter clings like orange rinds
Between hope and facing others
My family will be mine
We always pack our luggage
And fly to the blissful mountain wild
Snow covered peaks, like distant dreams
All come alive
Sweet December, thanking you
For the winter trips
May ever stay alike
SOUMYAA B
Through this piece the poet expresses her excitement and eagerness towards the winter trip with family in hopes to escape life's monotony.
