Can a Caged Bird Fly
Can the caged bird fly?
If the door opens,
would its wings spread wide?
Or would it stay,
in the melancholy monotony of sameness?
Would anything change,
if it left its gilded cage?
Could it affect someone?
Anyone?
A singular person?
No, it won’t.
It shouldn’t and couldn’t.
But if it did fly again.
Maybe, I could try to fly again.
Perhaps one day,
two caged birds can soar the sky together
and finally be free.

I get stuck in my head quite often. I struggle with anxiety, it always tells me I am not good enough unless I am perfect, but no one is. My brain goes on autopilot and my heart gets shut off. I may want to try something new, but anxiety has other plans.
