Brisk Fall Morning
I move swiftly,
silently,
so not even the birds can hear me,
damp leaves cold
beneath the bare skin of my feet.
The farther I go,
the more my thoughts dissipate like mist.
The wind rushes past me,
teasing and tugging
my hair into terrible shapes.
If I was anyone,
I might feel the cold,
but Earth's breath feels warm in my ear
as I listen to her secrets.
