What are the chances that you meet a stranger
For some reason, my brain refuses to let that day in January go.
It was wet outside; I was cold.
I was running down West st at 5mph, when my eyes locked in on you
because you were the only other
person there, an unknown face, running towards me at 4mph.
You looked up at a sign, and accidentally
locked eyes with me. A cold stare, maybe, maybe not.
I don’t remember what the sign said;
As it often does when in a peaceful
environment, time slowed down.
Because we were the only ones there it was pretty awkward, and I looked
Back down as any sensible human would do.
However, I noticed a loose string on your hat: It was green; that was all. So I
just happened to turn my head to look
back at you. Then I noticed you were looking back at me probably because I was the
only other person there.
Statistically speaking, the odds that I ever see you again are less than
one in a million so there is no point in ever thinking about
You again.
If our paths cross again I probably won’t recognize you.
