There’s something about how a river
weathers away stone until it crumbles...
I wonder if the rocks ever fight back.
I know rivers
who flow without care
and shave off the skin and bone of those they pass
Sometimes, I avoid the rivers
and stick to the safety of the dirt and the trees
But if we must interact
I bring my pooch with me
to stomp across their dirtied water
