“Melancholy”
This is my favorite feeling, I think.
It’s the smell of rain
Or the last day of school
It’s a bag of old stuffed animals sitting at the bottom of the stairs,
waiting to go Goodwill
It’s staying up late
Or buying a new calendar
And visiting your hometown
It’s finishing your favorite book for the third time
It’s the feeling of leaving something behind; not for good, but just for now.
