He is friends with my shadow,
Though he has no shadow himself.
His heart is as still as ice,
Though his presence is always near me.
He has no blood,
For no bullet can break his skin.
He shows no emotion,
But feels all of them.
His breathing is shallow,
But can be heard in every room.
His eyes, black,
For hatred is full in them.
He is only in my nightmares,
But he strives to be real.
He is the cloud that rains over me,
Shading me from the world.
He stays in the shadows,
Watching, waiting,
Where no one can see him but me.
But he is still there,
For he is friends with my shadow
And the greatest evil I have met.
