I sit with the world, I sit and think about her,
I thought she was strong- the way she lives her life-
Doing what she wants, always a story to tell,
I still don’t really know what she meant
Saying she learned it too young,
(But she’s already so young, 15?)
My mind asks abuse?
But who am I to ask?
So I say nothing…

Now I think about her again
Is she walking up his stairs?
His who she admitted fearing,
Will he hit her again?
Burn her with a lighter like she told me he has?

I want to stop her,
Grab her and hold her,
Tell her she’s worth something,
That she doesn’t have to do this,
Doesn’t have to do anything she doesn’t want to,

But there’s nothing I can do,
Nothing I can do for a girl who says
It’s not rape if she knows it will happen,
Am I supposed to tell someone?
I don’t know…
There’s no real way to save someone
Who claims nothing’s wrong.

But it is wrong.
The way she talks about not believing in love,
How she describes doing favors for guys,
But who would I tell?
Who can help a 15 year old who parties with college students?
Who does things that should get guys arrested?

No one can tell her what to do,
Why should she listen?
She’s an adult,
I can see her mind telling her she’s in control,
That she knows what she’s doing,
That nothing’s wrong,
That everything she does,
Everything people have done to her is ok,

But she’s not an adult,
So I think,
I Pray,
That even though there’s nothing
A 17 year old can do for her,
That some one out there can save her,
Stop what the world is overlooking.
