untitled
there stands
one reaching for something
—infinity, perhaps, but who will ever know—
clutching, maybe, with no hands to grasp
staring, just maybe, at something unseen
—what it is, no one will ever know—
and he could guide her to what she is looking for
—happiness, perhaps—
though he will not
(help cannot be given if the student is not willing)
she cannot accept a guide
for she is too busy reaching for
shadows and looking for infinity;
thinking of her own sorrows and dancing to music no one hears;
living in the past while the present passes by;
and performing for no audience
—except for forever, perhaps—
