Beach House
I thought that like the crashing waves
By the beach house, we would last forever
I never thought that my heart , along with the old blue paint
Of the little cottage, would crack and peel.
I thought that we would survive through anything
Even the flashing cracking thunderstorms of life
I thought that our love would hold tight
Like the anchor of that little boat we layed in
all day. I thought that you would be here to rub aloe
on my fair skin when I don’t wear enough sunscreen
You took me to the beach house, now all I’ve got
Is sand in my shoes.
