Please Stop
Did you know that a bit after nine today,
on my way to math class, I’ll go out of my way
to pass by your locker, and maybe you’ll turn
and smile and wave, and my heart, it’ll burn?
And I’ll go by the spot where your friends sit at lunch
and I’ll pretend I don’t see you. Do you have a hunch
that I’ve loved you for almost a year to this day?
Do you love me too? Does that make it okay?
All the times that we laughed, our smiles pulled wide,
and the times that I hoped you wouldn’t see me cry.
All the times that you tore me down, over again,
is it worth it? If we’ll ever be more than friends,
we’ll have to rewind, take it back to the start,
and you have to promise to stop breaking my heart.
