Monsters in my Closet
I hear them breathe
Banging against the door.
I hear their snarls
Echoing through my mind
There are monsters in my closet
Ones only I can see.
There are monsters in my closet
Ones that shrink back from the light.
I hide under my covers
Letting sleep free me
From their infuriating glares.
Yet I always wake up
Their eyes hungrily on mine.
There are monsters in my closet
Lurking beneath my clothes
They've been there my whole life
Since I was a toddler
Who merely thought they wanted to play.
