Peace at last
["He cocked the gun."] "chich-chich"..
A fitting end soon to come from his companion, his best friend...
"now look out towards the mountains Lennie and envision 'em rabbits"...
He raises the silver piece
getting ready to give his friend peace...
"POW!"
the sound echoed, silence fell, time froze
As Lennie fell, motionless on the ground; sounless, since
the bullet pierced the shell that protected his brain
it was a fitting end, with no pain
he saved him from the pain he'd have to endure
a true act of love
Lennies soul set free
rising to the heavens above
to meet God at his throne
and George isn't alone, Lennie walks beside him
heart beating strong, he's alive
inside him.
