Fireflies
Temporary wishing-stars
blinking lights like blinking hearts
alternating hope and fear
prompt hopeful dreams from wistful hearts.
Sometimes we keep our dreams in jars
in hopes that we might always wish
on temporary wishing-stars,
but dreams that are ensnared in jars
fare no better than their wishing-stars
whose blinking lights soon cease to glow
in bondage unfamiliar,
so pin your dreams upon a star
then let them wander free and far.
