Disappointment
I tried to tell you that "maybe”’s don't work out for me.
I tried to tell you that "we'll see"'s usually became "next time"'s.
I tried to tell you not to get my hopes up.
I tried to tell you not to let me think it can happen.
It wouldn't happen.
I knew before I started,
that it couldn't happen.
You told me maybe.
You said we'll see.
You told me there was a chance.
And I told you that saying that,
makes it worse.
Yes or no.
Maybes turn into no's,
so why don't you just say no?
Then,
if it does turn out,
just tell me you changed your mind.
At least then I won't get my hopes up.
But when you say maybe,
my hopes raise,
without permission.
When you tell me no,
nothing else can make me better.
I'm not a drama queen,
I just want what I can't have.
