Phoenix
It’s a bit of a risk but I’ll take it,
Tell me it’s just a dream and I’ll make it,
Sparkle and shine clear as the truth,
I’m sick of pretty places and I need something new,
I need the yellow and red of the sun in my heart,
To fly off on a plane in search of a new start,
The salt water stinging wounds while mending broken trust,
I don’t know what I’ll find or what’s in store for us,
I don’t know anything but what I’m searching to discover,
The answer to this everything I hide from under covers,
Is it scratched under the sand stones or painted on a sea of blue?
Now I know not to believe the words that twist and bend what’s true,
I’ve been lying to myself and now I can finally face it,
The past can’t be redone because there’s no time to erase it,
I’m living for the moment and I cling with fingers tight,
Onto golden bits of peace shimmering amid this endless fight,
Sometimes you have to play with fire to create a brand new you,
To melt away the past until the future’s burning through,
The only regret you’ll ever have is letting chances slip,
So carry on because life is better when you start to live.
