Fire, With You
with wide and wet eyes i lay quiet in the dark,
lick the salt from my lips, forget my desires,
i clutch the covers, cursing an absent spark,
make a note to myself that a spark should catch fire,
if a blizzard can burn me, why should fire exist,
if a spark can excite me, if i can be electric,
if the wind chaps my lips, if i can hold my own hips,
if i can be who i want without warnings or tips,
if i can hold my own heart dear and safe in my chest,
beating bloody and strong with no tax or interest,
if i can think my own thoughts with no distortion or mess,
who's hand should i hold when i hold my own best?
i am strong on my own even if i'm a liar,
i can breathe by myself even if it is harder,
with breath off of his lips, i reclaim desire,
still holding my own, i let this love transpire,
counting my lucky stars that i'm finally on fire,
with you.
