"Our Deepest Fear is not that we are inadequate, our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure"

why did you let me have your smile?
why did you let me take your pride
why did you let me take your mother's love
that lives in your heart so deep inside

and when i try to give it back
you don't want it back
you don't want any of it
all you want is my undying love
but my love for you has been dead
for a long time...

why did you let me give you a name
my hunger to break your spirit
has left you ashamed
of the one your mother gave

a girl is supposed to have pride
about who she is
not pride about who someone
wants her to be
but you see
thats all that you can see
all you know and understand
is who i allow you to be
not who you want to be
or what your heart can see

lonely girl

i love you but i must break you
i must take your sense of worth
for my heart my soul my mind

to feed on

and these are the words your
mind has whispered to my heart:

"i have given myself freedom
through believing in your love
i am no longer lonely girl
as you have been calling me
i am never alone now
i have your love
i am never alone"

all you want is my undying love
but my love for you has been dead
for a long time...

and dancing on its grave
is the shadow of the girl you once knew
listen closely

she is whistling a song
of her mother's love.

The author's comments:
This was written purely from the heart. Rare is the day that I write a poem without the burden of the mind's criticizing ways.
A lesson to be learned here.
I hope every girl will be able to see it within the words.
