Stationary Statement
The single statement stood still.
Simply sitting, no intention of moving,
Watching, as I thought about it,
My face, my body, my breathing.
That single, simple statement
Sat tirelessly on the table,
Waiting for me to make a move.
Staring into my eyes
It waited for me to cry.
That single, stupid statement!
Staring like a deer
in the headlights of a car.
Boring a hole into my soul,
Showing me no mercy.
That single, soulless statement,
Granting me no room to move,
No room to think,
No room to do anything.
This single, sorry statement,
Now lives with me at home.
It will never run or leave my side,
Because I can't let it go.
